# Disable a push installation

`DELETE /v1/contacts/{id}/installations/{installationId}`

Requires an API key with the `contacts:write` scope. [About keys and scopes](/docs/api/authentication)

Marks an installation inactive so it stops receiving push. Use this when a device reports its token is no longer valid.

## Path parameters

- `id` (string, required, uuid)
- `installationId` (string, required, uuid)

## Returns

Returns `204 No Content` with an empty body. Otherwise returns an error; [Errors](/docs/api/errors) lists every code and which to retry.
